On the afternoon of March 18, 2024, the National Economics University held an exchange of memorandum of agreement with Andrews University, USA. This joint training program with foreign universities aims to provide quality and professional human resources with good skills, high professional qualifications, and the ability to adapt to the development of technology and work in an international environment.
Overview of the ceremony
Attending the ceremony, on behalf of Andrews University, there was Dr. Alayne Thorpe – Vice President; Dr. Amy Rebok Rosenthal – Vice President; Dr. Kimberly Pichot – Dean of the School of Business, Computing and Aviation, Andrews University; Dr. Nguyen Viet Anh – Director of Andrews University programs in Vietnam. On the side of the National Economics University, there was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho – Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Trung Thanh – Dean of the International School of Management and Economics; and representatives of leaders of departments, faculties, institutes, centers, officials and lecturers of the two schools.

Bachelor of Business Administration, Major in International Business program in cooperation between the National Economics University and Andrews University contributes to improving reputation and promoting quality of education and training of both schools and global integration for Vietnam. The program is taught at the National Economics University for 4 years; the bachelor’s degree is awarded by Andrews University; Final year courses are taught by Andrews University faculty.
The program will provide students with basic knowledge and experience in Business Administration in an international business environment and equip necessary international business skills (business planning, project management, negotiation, problem-solving, cross-cultural communication…) to help students have the ability to perform well in their jobs right after graduation. Besides, equipping working capacity in an international environment: English ability, communication skills, teamwork, presentation, analytical thinking, self-study, and self-research skills, along with personal qualities and professional ethics in international business.

According to this cooperation agreement, the two schools will cooperate in training the bachelor’s program in Business Administration with a major in International Business. The program includes 124 credits, of which the National Economics University is responsible for training 64 credits, and Andrews University is responsible for training 60 credits. The program will conduct full training at the National Economics University and include a one-week Field Trip at Andrews University. Students have the opportunity to transfer training at Andrews University from the third year of study, with a maximum tuition support of up to 50%.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Trung Thanh, Dean of the International School of Management and Economics, said that the training cooperation agreement with Andrews University is an important milestone for the National Economics University in general and the School in particular in expanding partnerships and cooperation. “If before, we mainly cooperated with universities from the UK, this is one of the first programs we have expanded cooperation with universities in the United States. The United States is one of the world’s leading economies and is very developed in science and technology, especially in the business sector. Therefore, this cooperation will bring excellent opportunities for students in the process of accessing training programs of American universities”, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Trung Thanh said.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Trung Thanh, students need IELTS 6.5 or higher or equivalent foreign language proficiency to study the cooperative program with Andrews University. Before that, the International School of Management and Economics will conduct interviews, evaluate candidates’ abilities, and advise whether this program is suitable for the student. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Trung Thanh expressed his hope that this will be one of the programs to promote comprehensive cooperation between the United States and Vietnam, not only in the field of higher education but also in business and communication. This is a good opportunity for the younger generation to access exchange programs with US universities.
