On May 12 and 13, 2021, National Economics University organized virtual thesis defense for all undergraduate students at POHE 59. This is the first time that the University has implemented online thesis defense by Microsoft Teams platform.

Attending the Opening Session of Virtual Bachelor Thesis Defense were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong – NEU President, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat – Chairman of Science and Training Council, Dr. Vu Van Ngoc – Dean of School of Advanced Educational Programs, together with Heads of NEU Faculties, Departments and Centers, NEU lecturers and students of intake 59.
Opening speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong congratulated 210 students of the POHE 59 for their efforts and striving to complete their biggest scientific work. He emphasized that defense session was an important milestone of their student life and an opportunity for them to publish their first research results with their best performance after 4 years of studying and researching at NEU. The President wished the students of the POHE 59 to achieve the best results in this thesis defense and achieve more success on the new path.

Due to the complicated of the COVID-19 pandemic in Hanoi and neighbouring provinces, all students at all levels are study online. Taking this opportunities, in order to help last-year students not be interrupted their study and their plan for career, NEU adopted online thesis defense for all students. The process of organizing and evaluating online thesis defense is quite simple and the same as face-to-face activities. Students present their presentation by slideshows then answer all the question of examiners. The virtual thesis defense was tested before and always have immediate support from NEU IT team. This activity is also approved by the Ministry of Education and Training, thus helps all Vietnamese universities and colleges actively and creatively apply information technology in teaching and training to bring benefits to students.
